Gino De Dominicis (Ancona 1947-Roma 1998)
He studied at the Ancona Art Institute and exhibited for the first time in 1967 in his hometown, at the gallery founded by his father. In 1968 he moved to Rome, where he came into contact with the Via Brunetti group, Laboratorio 70. Between the 1960s and 1970s, the artist expressed himself through installations and sculptures; in the 1980s, however, he took up figurative painting in an innovative way. Gino De Dominicis explored different art forms, focusing on recurring themes such as death and immortality, the realization of the impossible, and the ability to stop the irreversibility of time. In the 1990s, De Dominicis' production moved toward more stylized forms with bold color combinations.
