Paul Jenkins (Kansas City 1923 – New York 2012)
Born and formed in America, Jenkins soon settled on the wave of European culture. Pollock and Rothko are his friends and teachers; Italian culture, from Giotto to Burri, offers him names that contribute to his artistic evolution. The artist escapes definitions, currents and styles; he says of himself: "I can define myself as an Abstract Phenomenist, one who faces reality in motion".
Abstract Phenomenist is the name of the exhibition dedicated to the artist in 2015 at Guastalla Centro Arte Gallery with twenty works from the period between the 60s and the 80s.
